Introducing Michel Janicot PHD, Founder and Trustee of aPODD.

We kick off 2020 with an interview with aPODD Founder and Trustee, Michel Janicot. Currently based in Brussels, Michel has 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, his knowledge and skills help strengthen the aPODD team.

1)     What’s your role within aPODD?   

I am involved in the strategic review and evaluation of projects from a scientific/clinical perspective. Ensuring aPODD keeps focused on its aim of delivering new treatments for childhood cancer. 

2)     What inspired you to work for aPODD? 

Being a father of 4, and having been exposed early on to Cesare's motivation, there was no doubt that I had to be part of the aPODD journey. I felt compelled to make a difference to children with cancer and I believe the aPODD team have the capacity to make that difference. 

3)     What’s your hope for aPODD for the next 12 months? 

I’m keen to play a key role in speeding up access to better drugs for children with cancer by improving the regulatory and clinical landscape to encourage innovation.

4)     Tell us something, that not many people know about you?  

I hesitated for a long time over whether to become either a neurosurgeon or a sailboat designer. Finally, I ended up being a preclinical oncologist.
