Meet our Team - Evgenia Mengou, Trustee, Regulatory Expert and Flamenco Dancer

Here we introduce our second team member and resident regulatory expert Evgenia Mengou.

1)    So Evgenia, what’s your role within aPODD?

Firstly I am on the Board of Trustees and I also have an active role in operational aspects of the charity. Be it in engagement efforts with potential partners or supporting the scientific progress of our projects.

2)    What inspired you to work for aPODD?

By day I’m a regulatory professional in the pharmaceutical industry. And with the advent of the Paediatric Regulation in Europe, I was exposed to the needs of children and was particularly touched by the challenging situation children with cancer find themselves. Being at aPODD allows me to utilise my skills and experience to progress our remit, to find treatments for children with cancer, NOW!

3)    What’s your hope for aPODD for the next 12 months?

I hope that we will be in a position to share with the wider public exciting results of our two repurposing projects. To identify a clinic ready candidate for two of the most devastating pediatric cancers is a potential game-changer.

4)    Tell us something, that not many people know about you?

I love dancing and have, many moons ago, danced Flamenco, as an amateur obviously not a professional….

So, I’m a huge Strictly fan! I was so lucky to actually get to see the live show this year – even got a hug from Will Bayley, what an inspiration, I’m so heartbroken he had an accident which forced him to leave the competition so early.
